Is Seafood and Sushi really life-threatening?

We have been brain-washed our entire life about how beneficial seafood and fish are for our health. How we should eat them weekly more than once as they are a great lean source of proteins with condensed benefits. So, what’s the deal with the new surfacing articles claiming that SUSHI and seafood can cause cancer? The claim was based on the fact that they may contain some chemicals that are toxic to us humans. Is it true? Should we stop eating fish? Should SUSHI be boycotted? Here is what you need to know…

  • Studies have found a percentage of fish and seafood to contain some mercury level. Not all have the same amount of mercury. It depends on the source & type of the product. Even among lake products, it depends on what lake we are getting the fish from.
  • Fish and seafood coming from the sea have minimal amounts of mercury, a study from Duke University showed. That being said, they do not pose health risks on our bodies.
  • The health issues associated with high consumption of fish and seafood belonging to the highest content group can lead to kidney and neurological problems.

So, bottom line, Sushi does not cause cancer! On the contrary, it is a highly nutritious food that can ensure high amounts of nutrients. From Salmon to Crab, avocados, ginger, wasabi, cucumbers, carrots, tobiko, you cannot but call Sushi a SUPER FOOD!
